Zimbabwe Appeared as Expensive Mobile Data Region in Africa

According to Alliance for Affordable Internet, Zimbabwe has highest cost for mobile data in the region. Zimbabwe Appeared as Expensive Mobile Data Region in Africa

According to the fifth edition of this annual report, it costs USD 25 per gigabyts. Similarly, Zambia is the second entry in the list of most expensive data region. In Zambia, it costs USD 13.27 per gigabyte followed by South Africa at USD 11.33.  After South Africa, the high data cost countries includes Kenya, Tunisia and Nigeria. Additionally, it costs USD 4.81 in Kenya, USD 4 in Tunisia and USD 2.76 in Nigeria.

The same report shows that that in Tanzania data retails at USD 4.40, Mozambique USD 3.30 and Egypt has the least expensive mobile data at USD 0.84 per gigabyte.

Everywhere in the world, over 2 billion people of different countries where just 1 GB of mobile data is unaffordable. Additionally, the provision of internet data becomes most significant barrier to access that is why cost of internet data need to come down in order to enhance access.
