Yoigo Expands LTE Coverage to Alicante, Barcelona and Seville

Yoigo Spain has extended its 4G LTE network to the cities of Alicante, Barcelona and Seville.

Yoigo set out its stall on May 2013 to be the first Spanish cellco to introduce LTE technology commercially, though it was beaten to the punch by both Vodafone Spain and Orange Espana, which launched at end-May and early-July, respectively. In the event, Yoigo inaugurated services over its 4G network in Madrid in mid-July 2013, at which date it said it was aiming to extend its network footprint to 48% of the population by the end of the year, up from the original goal of 37%; by the end of 2013 it hopes to offer 4G services to more than 22.5 million people in 100 cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants. Alongside launch city Madrid, and the most recently announced coverage areas, the cellco’s LTE services are now also available in both Malaga and Valencia.
