VHA Calls On Cisco to Help Accelerate 4G Network Rollout

Vodafone Hutchison Australia (VHA) has called on US-based vendor Cisco to assist in speeding up the deployment of its Long Term Evolution (LTE) network. Announcing the deal with VHA in a press release, Cisco confirmed that it will provide its ASR 5500 as the mobile multimedia core platform for the network, claiming that this would increase network efficiency in order to provide ‘an optimal experience for Vodafone 4G customers’. Under the terms of the contract, Cisco has also said that its professional services team will work closely with VHA to help ensure the solution is planned, designed, tested and implemented quickly and efficiently. In addition, VHA will implement the Cisco 7613 mobile security gateway as part of its Enhanced Packet Core solution.

Commenting on the development, Cliff Woo, chief technology officer at VHA, noted: ‘We believe the implementation of Cisco’s technology will provide VHA a Packet Core platform that we can scale to meet the data demands of our customers, now and in the future. Moreover this platform gives us the opportunity to go beyond traditional mobile services and allows us to create more personalized services for customers.’
