Verizon enhances 4G LTE network coverage in Vernon
Verizon Wireless has recently activated new 4G LTE service in Vernon, Connecticut. The investment expands Verizon’s 4G LTE coverage in Vernon along Interstate 84, Route 30 and in the vicinities of Bolton and Tunnel Roads. Verizon’s 4G LTE customers in the coverage area should experience average speeds of 5 to 12 Mbps for download and 2 to 5 Mbps for upload. Verizon reports it has invested over USD 3 billion into its New England network since 2000, including more than USD 297 million in 2011 alone, to increase network coverage and capacity. As of 15 March, Verizon’s 4G LTE network covers more than 200 million people in 203 markets across the US. The operator plans to more than double the number of its 4G LTE markets, bringing the total markets to more than 400, by year-end. The company’s 4G LTE network is expected to cover over 260 million people in the US by the end of 2012.
