True Enlists Ericsson as 3G/4G Technology Partner

True Corp has chosen Swedish technology giant Ericsson as one of its key suppliers for the expansion of its 3G/4G HSPA/LTE 2100MHz mobile broadband network which it launched commercially in May.

 Ericsson has been contracted to deploy its multi-standard radio base station RBS 6000along with a range of services including project management, system integration, interoperability testing, network design and implementation, as well as competence development of personnel. This is the first time Ericsson has partnered True’s mobile division, with the Thai operator previously using other vendors including Alcatel-Lucent and Huawei for its 2G/3G/4G radio access and core network rollout projects. Vichaow Rakphongphairoj, chief operating officer of True Corp, said, ‘This agreement will … create more exciting opportunities for businesses, as well as new services for subscribers. We expect that greater connectivity will foster further development of Thai society as a whole’.
