Telstra sells 820,000 LTE devices

Telstra has sold some 820,000 LTE devices since the launch of the network last year. Of the total, 405,000 were LTE handsets, of which 100,000 were iPhone 5 devices. Telstra CEO David Thodey said at an investor briefing. Telstra’s LTE network now covers around 40 percent of the population, which is set to increase to 66.6 percent by June 2013. Telstra’s head of mobile, Warwick Bray, said that it is important for the company to move people to 4G as it costs the company less to have customers on 4G than on 3G devices.
