Telenor again seeks compensation for network shutdowns

Telenor Pakistan is again attempting to seek compensation for lost revenues due to mobile network suspensions. The company has written a letter to the ICT minister pointing out that it makes special arrangements, involving higher costs, to cater to the increased traffic on special occasions.

Telenor said it would also expect higher returns on those holidays but due to ordered shutdowns of the mobile network it has incurred a revenue loss of around PKR 163 million in 2012 and January of this year, Pro Pakistani reports citing unnamed sources. T
elenor argues that the government, under the Pakistan Telecommunication (Re-organization) Act, is required to compensate mobile operators for these service suspensions. Mobile operators have appealed to the ministry before to get compensation but these attempts were not successful. Other operators are expected to seek compensation again as well.
