Uzmobile Postpones Launch of its GSM Network

National mobile communication operator Uzmobile postponed launch of its GSM network for five days, the press service of the company said.

The statement of the operator said that the launch of GSM network in Tashkent city and Tashkent region was postponed to 15 April 2015 as the operator should carry out additional technical and assembly works.

The operator said that subscribers will be able to subscribe to Uzmobile at all sales offices of Uztelecom across Uzbekistan after 14:00 of 15 April.

President of Uzbekistan signed a resolution “On measures on organization of the activities of national operator of mobile communication” on 12 February 2014.

Branch of Uzbektelecom, Uzmobile, received status of national operator of mobile communication of Uzbekistan, which should develop mobile communication services and GSM network across Uzbekistan, as well as ensure information security.

In line with the resolution, Uzmobile will develop GSM network across Uzbekistan. The operator plans to expand GSM network across Uzbekistan in 2016-2017 with introduction of 2G/3G and 4G technologies.

At the same time, UzMobile will continue to use and further develop CDMA-450 EV-DO network. This year, the company plans to expand CDMA network.

Uzmobile will offer comfortable tariff plans and quality services with using advantages of both CDMA and GSM/LTE standards.

According to data of operator, currently CDMA network covers 85% of settlements. Number of subscribers is about 500,000 users. The estimated market share of Uzmobile is 2.3%.

Uzmobile to Launch GSM Network for Commercial Use on 10 Apri

National mobile communication operator of Uzbekistan Uzmobile will launch a GSM network to the commercial exploitation on 10 April 2015.

According to the operator, the GSM network will be launched in Tashkent city and Tashkent region. President of Uzbekistan signed a resolution “On measures on organization of the activities of national operator of mobile communication” on 12 February 2014.

Shukhrat Kadirov to Head UZMOBILE

A new head of national mobile communication operator UZMOBILE was appointed in Uzbekistan.

Shukhrat Kadirov was appointed as a director of the national mobile communication operator UZMOBILE, replacing Abdigani Goibnazarov.

Prior to appointment Shukhrat Kadirov headed UZDIGITAL TV, rendering digital television services in Uzbekistan.

UZMOBILE became a national mobile communication operator of Uzbekistan in February 2014 in line with the resolution of the President of Uzbekistan. Currently, the operator provides mobile communication services on CDMA standard. Soon, the operator will launch GSM networks in Tashkent region and Tashkent city.

The operator plans to launch GSM network across Uzbekistan in 2016-2017 and will continue to develop its CDMA-450 EV-DO network.

Uzmobile to Launch GSM Network in March

Uzbekistan national operator Uztelecom announced that its mobile unit Uzmobile will launch a GSM network in March. The network will launched in the city and region of Tashkent. Mobile services over GSM, 3G and LTE will be launches across the country in 2016-2017. Uzmobile earlier provided services over CDMA-450. The operator plans to develop its CDMA network in the future.

UzMobile to Develop Both GSM and CDMA Networks

Mobile communication operator UzMobile, a branch of Uzbektelecom, will develop both GSM and CDMA networks, deputy director-general of Uzbektelecom Jamol Mahsudov said.

He said that:

“National mobile communication operator UzMobile is planning to construct GSM network across Uzbekistan by 2017 with installation of new equipment from leading vendors.”

Jamol Mahsudov added that:

“UzMobile is planning to launch GSM network in Tashkent city and Tashkent region to commercial exploitation. The capacity of network in Tashkent and Tashkent region will make up 1.6 million subscribers.”

He said that currently works on installation, assembly and testing of equipment is underway.

Mahsudov said that the operator plans to expand GSM network across Uzbekistan in 2016-2017 with introduction of 2G/3G and 4G technologies.

At the same time, UzMobile will continue to use and further develop CDMA-450 EV-DO network. This year, the company plans to expand CDMA export, he said.

Huawei Technologies to Supply Equipment to Uzmobile

China’s Huawei Technologies will supply telecommunication equipment to Uzmobile, a branch of Uzbektelecom, worth US$117.6 million.

Shareholders of Uzbektelecom at extraordinary meeting allowed the company to sign contract on supply of telecommunication equipment for US$117.6 million with Huawei Technologies Co.LTD.

The contract will be financed due to loan of the State Development Bank of China for US$100 million and Aloqabank for US$17.6 million.

The State Development Bank of China will provide loan for nine years with three-year grace period under interest rate of 6-month LIBOR plus 3.9%.

Huawei Technologies will supply equipment to Uzmobile, which currently is constructing its own GSM network in Uzbekistan.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a resolution “On measures on organization of activity of national operator of mobile communication” on 12 February 2014.

Uzbekistan creates national operator of mobile communication on the base of Uzmobile, a branch of the joint stock company “Uzbektelecom”. The operator will provide services on GSM standard, while continue to develop CDMA-450 network, which it created in 2004.

The operator will install 3,900 base stations and 4,000 sets of radio relay equipment with total number capacity of 8 million numbers.

The project, with the estimated cost of US$500 million, will be financed due to loan of the State Development Bank of China for US$100 million and the resources of the Uzbek side.
