Takom revenues slide 27% in First Quarter

Mobile operator Takom, working under the beeline Tajikistan brand, announced that its mobile service revenue decreased 27 percent to USD 19 million in the first quarter, on the back of lower incoming international traffic as a result of fewer migrants living abroad due to the macroeconomic slowdown in the region and a weakening local currency. According to the report mobile voice revenue  decreased due to a growing proportion of on-net calls. Mobile data revenue decreased 32 percent due to suspensions of certain popular websites and social networks plus a weakening currency. The customer base decreased 6 percent to 1.2 million in a declining market.
