Cameroon to deactivate all unidentified Sims

La Cameroon Telecom Ministry said that all unidentified Sims in the country will be deactivated from 30 June, Ecofin reported. The date corresponds to the deadline mobile operators gave to their subscribers on the issue. The country’s regulator asked operators in April to deactivate unidentified or badly identified Sims. From 2014 to 2015, the country suspended 6 million “suspicious” Sims. The government said the move is for security reasons, as Boko Haram has often used phones as kamikaze bombs.
