Samsung Galaxy Tab4 Series Tablets Revealed

Samsung has finally confirmed the new line of tablets, announcing the Tab4 7.0, 8.0 and 10.1 on Tuesday.

All three models come in black and white variants, pack quad-core processors and run Android 4.4. It’s unclear what kind of software Samsung has running on top of Android here, though the company is promoting several specialized features including ChatOn messaging, MultiWindow for using multiple apps at once, and WatchOn for watching TV on your tablet.

The largest 10.1-inch model offers a 1280 x 800 pixel display, a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, a 3-megapixel rear camera, a 1.3-megapixel secondary shooter, 16GB of storage with microSD support, and a 6800mAh battery. A medium-sized 8-inch model offers pretty much the same specs under a smaller screen, though it packs a lower capacity 4450mAh battery, too. Finally, the Galaxy Tab4 7.0 offers a 7-inch display at the same resolution along with similar specs and an unspecified smaller battery.

Samsung says all three tablets should hit the global market later in Q2, so it may not be long before the Tab4 family is available for purchase. There’s no word on pricing and nothing particularly revolutionary here, so you may want to hold onto your old tablet for now and wait for Samsung’s rumored AMOLED slate to make its debut.
