Optus has reportedly completed a major expansion of its 3G and 4G networks in Adelaide, having deployed 25 new LTE-enabled sites, while a further 150 upgraded 3G sites have also been constructed.

A number of new areas can now access the cellco’s 4G products, with those including: the Adelaide Central Business District (CBD) and North Adelaide; the city’s inner-east and south-east suburbs; the western and inner-west suburbs of West Lakes; the northern suburb of Modbury; and the inner-south suburbs of Unley and Wayville.

Meanwhile, Optus’ vice-president of corporate and regulatory affairs, David Epstein, noted that his company plans to add another 100 new mobile sites in Adelaide and its surrounding areas. He said, ‘We will be delivering some major initiatives that improve the coverage, speed and capacity of our 4G network, and enhance the strength and consistency of our 3G network … The work that we will be carrying out over the next 24 months ensures that customers can continue to enjoy a fast, reliable mobile service that provides more choice and competition in a 4G world.’
