Lumia 730 Dual SIM Now Available in Pakistan

Lumia’s latest innovation lets people easily capture and share more of what they want

Microsoft Devices Pakistan announced the availability of the Lumia 730 Dual SIM in Pakistan. With a wide angle front facing camera, affordable price tag, and sleek, pocketable style featured alongside integrated Microsoft experiences, Lumia 730 lets people easily capture and share more of what they want.

The Lumia 730 combines a slim, vibrant style with powerful performance to create an uncompromised smartphone experience. Alongside Dual SIM 3G support, the Lumia 730 provides outstanding personalization brought by Windows Phone 8.1 to deliver memorable Skype video calls with the wide-angle front-facing camera. People can share more of the world around them, or bring more family and friends into a call. People can also take unbeatable selfies with the Full HD 5MP front facing camera, and quickly and easily share to social networks like Facebook and Instagram. With a focal length of 24mm, Lumia 730 front facing camera captures more of the scene, ensuring people never cut out another member of the group or miss an unbelievable background during a selfie.

A powerful Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 400 processor, featuring a quad core CPU at 1.2GHz, supports a fast, and smooth user experience with the latest version of Windows Phone 8.1, including one swipe notifications from Action Center, and the fast Word Flow keyboard. The Snapdragon 400 processor is a product of Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. (QTI), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated.                

People can create unique selfies with the updated Lumia Selfie app which comes pre-loaded on Lumia 730. With a viewing angle of almost 180 degrees, and a 4.7” HD OLED display, people can watch their favorite shows, movies or video clips even in bright sunlight. Seamless integration with Microsoft services such as Skype and Microsoft Office, with Outlook, Word, Excel, OneNote and PowerPoint is available out of the box for leading productivity on the go. 15GB of free cloud storage is available on Microsoft OneDrive to sync, store, access and share content like photos online. A world of apps is available for Windows Phone, including favourites like WhatsApp, Viber, Instagram, Vimeo and Flipboard – plus apps that sync across devices so people can pick up where they left off. The 2220 mAh battery keeps you going throughout the day, and lasts even longer when you replace the back cover with a wireless charging shell (charging pad sold separately).

The Lumia 730 is expected to be available in Pakistan at an estimated price of PKR 28,950/-. The Lumia 730 will be available in a range of colours including bright orange, bright green and stylish neutrals such as dark grey and white.

China Mobile and Nokia Ink USD970m TD-LTE Deal

China Mobile has signed a USD970 million deal with Finnish vendor Nokia Networks for the provision of Time Division Long Term Evolution (TD-LTE) equipment. Under the terms of the deal, Nokia will supply its Evolved Packet Core (EPC) and GSM wireless networking equipment, core application platforms, operation support system (OSS), software and services to support the cellco’s 4G network rollout in 2014 and 2015. In a press release from Nokia, the vendor’s regional Chief Markus Borchert noted:

“This contract marks another milestone in the strategic partnership between China Mobile and Nokia Networks. We have been closely cooperating throughout the past years to jointly commercialise and globalise TD-LTE, and this agreement will further accelerate 4G TD-LTE development in China as well as worldwide.”

As previously, China Mobile has signed up 40 million 4G users since launching its TD-LTE network in December last year, and its 4G platform now consists of more than 500,000 base stations in upwards of 300 cities.

Microsoft Shows off its Second Android Based Smartphone

Microsoft has shown off a new Nokia smartphone based on its own Android clone, which it said is aimed at the developing markets to introduce the “next billion” people to the mobile Internet and cloud services.

Just like the Nokia X, the new Nokia X2 provides access to Android apps and Microsoft services, while allowing people to switch between apps with the Fastlane feature. The Nokia X2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor featuring a dual core 1.2GHz CPU and 1 GB of RAM.

The Nokia X2 also debuts the next-generation Nokia X Software Platform 2.0 and major enhancements to the user interface. People can choose between three types of screens to facilitate navigation: the colorful “home” with resizable tiles; Fastlane to access recent apps and future calendar items; and a new Lumia-inspired apps list, from which people can pin items to the home screen. A pull-down notifications tab also allows people to glance at connectivity options as well as actionable items, such as software updates available for download. A new home key and visual multitasking complete the roundup of upgrades.


The Nokia X2 will debut with, Skype and OneDrive pre-loaded, with more available from the Nokia Store, including the Bing Search app.

The Nokia X2 will be available initially as a dual-SIM device and will begin rolling out to unspecified countries next month for EUR99 (US$135).

Lumia 630 Dual SIM Now Available in Pakistan

Telenor Selects Nokia for Five-year Radio Agreement

Nokia says that it has won a 5 year agreement to be considered for future contracts by Telenor Group.

For this important radio access technology area, we have selected Nokia as a partner due to our excellent working relationship and the company’s proven expertise in mobile broadband and services.”

No contracts have actually been signed, and as with the deal announced earlier this week with Alcatel-Lucent, it is just a framework agreement to buy equipment in the future.
