The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has postponed the proposed auction of the 2.6 GHz spectrum band “until further notice”. The auction was scheduled to take place in early May, offering 14 lots of 2×5 MHz in the 2.6 GHz band. The reserve price for each lot was set at USD 16 million. Prospective bidders had until 16 April to apply for participation in the auction. The technology-neutral licences were expected to be used to launch LTE mobile broadband services. The auction was first announced last October and suspended a first time in November. The NCC published a new information memorandum two weeks ago to resume the sale. Further details on why it was delayed again are not known.
