Orange Inaugurates 4G Network in Six Cities

Spanish cellco Orange Espana has launched commercial 4G services in the cities of Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Malaga and Murcia. In confirming that its LTE-based services were now live, Orange Espana noted that it has invested around EUR70 million (USD89.9 million) for the modernization of its network in Madrid alone. As a result of such investment, the cellco has said that at launch its 4G infrastructure covers around 80% of the population of Madrid within the perimeter of the M40 Motorway, or around three million people.

Orange is the second Spanish wireless operator to introduce commercial 4G services, with Vodafone Spain having been the first to do so at the end of May 2013.
