Swedish PTS says TV not affected by 800 MHz mobile telephony
Swedish telecoms sector regulator PTS says field measurements have found that mobile telephony in the 800 MHz band does not interfere with terrestrial television reception. PTS said it willl continue with its monitoring as services in the band expand. As terrestrial television is broadcast in frequencies up 800 MHz, there was a risk of television reception being affected. HI3G, TeliaSonera Mobile Networks and Net4Mobility won licences to operate in the 800 MHz band about one year ago and avoiding TV interference was one of the conditions of the licences. During the year, 33 viewers have contacted the PTS, which carried about around ten field measuresments, but found no interference under the definition set out in the licence conditions.
