
StarHub to launch LTE services on 19 September
StarHub, a Singaporean telecommunications company will officially launch LTE services on 19 September.
The LTE service will initially be available in Singapore’s central business district as well as in Changi Airport and Singapore Expo. By the fourth quarter, StarHub will expand its LTE network to reach more than half of the island and nationwide LTE network coverage is scheduled to be completed by 2013. Furthermore, to complement its LTE network, StarHub will switch on its DC-HSPA+ mobile network in the coming weeks, doubling the current 3G downlink speed to up to 42 Mbps.
On 19 September, StarHub will also launch four new smartphone price plans called SmartSurf plans. The plans start at SGD 38 per month for 100 voice minutes, 800 SMS/MMS messages, and 2 GB of data, and range to SGD 205 per month for 2,000 voice minutes, 2,500 messages, and 12 GB of data. Data allocations can be upsized for SGD 4.28 for 1 GB valid for one month, and a speed boost add-on to increase speeds to up to 75 Mbps is priced at SGD 10.70 per month but is free until 31 March 2013.
