Smart Tests LTE-A

The Philippine Star reports that Smart Communications, part of dominant telco PLDT, has tested LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) technology. The cellco linked up with Chinese network equipment provider Huawei and reportedly achieved downlink speeds of up to 209Mbps in test conditions, over twice the 100Mbps top speed of LTE. The company has not unveiled a timetable for a commercial launch.
