Shentel LTE Network Now Covers 75% of Footprint
Sprint Nextel’s regional affiliate Shenandoah Telecommunications (ShenTel) has extended its in-deployment Long Term Evolution (LTE) network to cover 75% of its overall network footprint. Fierce Wireless reports that the company’s 4G network now covers 276 sites, using equipment from Alcatel-Lucent. Interestingly, the iPhone now represents 26% of new gross additions at ShenTel, and more than 21% of the company’s post-paid users are said to have an iPhone.
ShenTel inaugurated its LTE network in November 2012 in selected areas of Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia, covering 56 markets at launch.
