Qualcomm Confirms CEO Transition
Qualcomm confirmed that Steven Mollenkopf has taken over as CEO of the company. At the company’s annual shareholders meeting, the former CEO, Paul Jacobs, was named executive chairman. Jacobs will focus on technology development and long-term strategy, while Mollenkopf, the former COO of Qualcomm, is responsible for all business lines and divisions.
Prior to his role as President and COO, Mollenkopf led the company’s chipset business, overseeing the launch of 4G technology and the introduction of WCDMA. Mollenkopf also led the company’s USD 3.1 billion acquisitions of Atheros, helping the group expand into new segments beyond mobile handsets.
