Shirakat is a non-governmental organization working on human rights and women’s rights in Pakistan. The state of women’s rights in Pakistan is often questioned in Pakistan. It is believed that women have no rights or privileges in Pakistan’s patriarchal society. In order to break these stereotypes Shirakat was formed. The organization is governed by development professionals, gender and human rights activists and behavioral change communication specialists who pitch in their efforts to ensure that women rights are provided for in this country. Shirakat aims to contribute towards social justice and women’s rights through piloting innovative initiatives; striving for behavioral change; and action beyond boundaries.
