Peru Awards Two 4G Licenses

Peru’s government has raised US$257 million after awarding two 4G licenses to Telefonica Moviles and Americatel Peru.

Telefonica Movistar paid US$152 million for the A block of spectrum from the 1710 to 2100 MHz bands. The reserve price had been set at US$63.4 million.

Americatel Peru on the other hand was awarded the block B of the 1710-2110 MHz band for a payment of US$105.5 million.

The two networks will need to cover 234 districts with LTE services within the next six years, and will have coverage in several cities by the middle of 2016.
