
Personal boosts 3.5G network capacity in Salta
Argentina’s company, Telecom Personal has doubled the capacity of its 3.5G network at 90% of sites in the northwestern city of Salta, with the aim of improving service quality in the region.
Reports are that the cellco is also investing ARS97 million (USD21 million) in the rollout of a new fibre-optic cable between General Ballivian (Salta province) and Presidencia Roque Saenz Pena (Chaco), while a further ARS14 million has been spent on the launch of new sales office in Salta.
Telecom Personal is Argentina’s second largest mobile operator by subscribers, with a total of 18.5 million customers at the end of March 2012, corresponding to a market share of around 33.2%. (Source: TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database).
