Pakistan sees WLL base shrink to 2.88 mln
Pakistan’s wireless local loop subscriber base fell to 2.88 million in September from 2.98 million March, according to figures from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
Wireless local loop (WLL) teledensity stood at 1.8 percent. PTCL led in WLL customers with 1.42 million, slightly down from 1.43 million in March, while Telecard’s customer base slumped to 588, 056 customers from 744,685 five months earlier.
WorldCall increased its subscriber base to 518,340 from 390,414 in March. Wateen saw its customer base fall to 238,908 from 286,747 while Sharp ended the September with 63,736 subscribers, down from 71,599 in March. Link Direct’s customer base shrank to 39,135 from 39,648 and NTC’s base was down at 9,165 subscribers versus 11,823 customers in March. Mytel reported 32 customers.
