Optus Calls On Visionstream for LTE Deployment

Visionstream, a subsidiary of Leighton Holdings, has announced that it has been handed a contract for civil and services work in the deployment of Optus’s LTE mobile network. In a deal valued at up to AUD240 million (USD218 million), Visionstream will act as the preferred supplier for the civil and services upgrade to over 1,200 existing Optus mobile sites, as well as for sites across the country. The work carried out by Visionstream will include radio design, site acquisition, site design, construction, installation, commissioning and optimization of the Optus mobile network. Commencement works, planning and mobilization is expected to get underway ‘in the coming days’, the vendor noted. Commenting on the deal, Visionstream’s general manager Allan Bradford said:

‘We are very pleased to partner strategically with Optus. We will be helping Optus to rapidly scale their mobile network, which allows their customers to increase use of 4G data services as they do more searching, browsing and streaming on the go.’
