O2 to Demo Volte from Q1 2014
Telefonica Germany has long-term plans to expand its LTE services nationwide, Susanne Faude, the company’s director of network quality assurance, and Bernd Bergmann, Senior Lead Access Engineering, told a local newspaper that Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) is expected to be demonstrated by the operator, which offers services under the brand O2, in the first quarter of 2014, though the company currently has no plans to introduce LTE roaming abroad or a pre-paid option.
Telefonica Germany expanded its 4G network to the cities of Hamburg, Duisburg and Essen on 2 July, following earlier launches in Munich, Berlin, Frankfurt, Cologne, Nuremberg, Leipzig and Dusseldorf.
