Nextel plans commercial launch of 3G before Christmas

Nextel plans to start commercial operations of its 3G services before Christmas using frequencies acquired in December 2010. The news was announced on 17 September by the vice president of Nextel, Alfredo Ferrari, after a meeting with Brazil’s Communications Minister, Paulo Bernardo. Nextel was one of the winners of the H band auction, investing BRL 1.2 billion for eleven of the thirteen lots offered.
