Ooredoo Launches 3G in Myanmar
Ooredoo has officially launched its mobile services in Myanmar. Ooredoo rolled out a new network using UMTS900 technology, which offers customers in Myanmar a 3G service. The company has launched in Myanmar’s three major cities and surrounding regions, initially covering 68 cities and towns and 7.8 million people. The network will rapidly extend beyond these cities to include 25 million people by the end of the year. Ooredoo is the first commercial operator to launch in the country since the government issued new licences last year. 3 Ireland selects Nokia for 2G, 3G network upgrade
Hutchison H3G Ireland (3 Ireland), which recently completed a EUR850 million (USD1.13 billion) deal to buy out fellow operator O2 Ireland, has selected Nokia Networks to upgrade its older 2G and 3G networks. According to a new research report from the analyst firm Berg Insight, the global cellular M2M market has entered a period of transition from 2G to 3G 4G technologies.The share of cellular M2M devices connected to HSPA/LTE networks is projected to more than double from less than 20 percent at the end of 2014 to more than 50 percent by 2018. Ericsson Signs Partnership Agreement with MegaFon
Russian mobile operator MegaFon and Sweden’s Ericsson have announced the signing of a strategic partnership agreement to jointly develop telecoms infrastructure over the next seven years. Nokia Networks, China Telecom Mark Major Milestone in FDD-TDD Carrier Aggregation
Nokia Networks and China Telecom have jointly announced the world first FDD TDD carrier aggregation including a user device chipset. In the demonstration by China Telecom, Nokia’s LTE base station achieved interoperability with a commercial user chipset developed by Marvell. A stable peak download speed of 260 Mbps was achieved in the carrier aggregation demonstration with FDD 20 MHz in 1.8 GHz and TDD 20 MHz in 2.6 GHz spectrum.
