To support Zong’s 4G network expansion plans, Zong’s parent company China Mobile Communications has approved additional investment, which will bring Zong’s total 4G investment to over USD 300 million.
Uzbekistan mobile operator UMS has launched its new Besh tariff, aimed at customers in the Bukhara, Syrdarya, Dzhizak, Navoi and Surkhandarya regions. The tariff costs USD 0.05 per day, with mobile internet priced at USD 0.05 per MB and outgoing calls to all Uzbekistan networks priced at USD 0.02 per minute. Texts to Uzbekistan mobile networks cost USD 0.02 per unit. Kazakhstan mobile operator Altel has introduced three new tariff plans. The Non-Stop tariff offers unlimited LTE services for KZT 4,500 monthly subscription. The Turbo Fast & Furious plan includes unlimited internet services on the LTE network as well as unlimited on-net calls and 200 minutes to other Kazakhstan networks for KZT 1,900 per month. The Fast & Furious tariff also includes unlimited LTE internet and on-net calls plus 120 minutes to other Kazakhstan networks for KZT 1,590 per month. The latter two plans are subject to a fair use of respectively 30 and 25 GB per month and also come with 1,000 on-net SMS. Mobile operator Armentel, working under the Beeline Armenia brand, has introduced a promotion for subscribers connecting to the Mega 500+ service over the My Beeline Armenia mobile application. Customers are offered double traffic volume, of 1 GB, for the same price of AMD 150 daily subscription. Only 500 MB daily traffic is offered when connecting in all other ways. Azerbaijan mobile operator Bakcell has expanded top-up options for its subscribers during their stay in Russia. Customers can now top-up their handset balance using the electronic wallets of any Russian mobile operator. They can top up their Bakcell balance, with the money transferred in Russian roubles and converted to the Azerbaijan currency using the exchange rate of the Russian Central Bank. Bakcell said it is the first Azerbaijan Company to offer such a service in Russia. Kyrgyzstan mobile operator Nur Telecom, working under the O! Brand, has introduced the 4G Wi-Fi Wingle package, containing a router, vehicle-adapted chargers and unlimited internet traffic at night. The price of the package totals KGS 2,390. The package is available for sale in retail outlets of the operator, as well as on its online shop. Free delivery is offered within the city of Bishkek when purchasing the package on the online shop.
Qualcomm Technologies, along with Telstra, Ericsson, and NETGEAR, announced the world’s first Gigabit Class LTE mobile device and network. The device is the NETGEAR Mobile Router MR1100, which uses the Snapdragon X16 LTE modem designed to deliver Gigabit Class LTE connectivity as well as Qualcomm Wi-Fi solutions designed to achieve Gigabit Wi-Fi. Google is planning to create a separate mobile index within a few months, Search Engine Land reported, citing Google webmaster trends analyst Gary Illyes, at Pubcon. Illyes said the new index will be the main or “primary” index that the search engine uses to respond to queries.
