Huawei and Qualcomm Test CDMA to LTE Fallback in Commercial Devices

Huawei has announced the success of interoperability testing for CDMA 1x LTE Circuit Switched Fallback (CSFB) commercial device. The test was conducted in partnership with Qualcomm using Release 8 1x CSFB and Release 9 1xe CSFB technology. An important component of CDMA to LTE evolution, CSFB enables data services to run on LTE networks with voice service fallback to Circuit Switched packets. In the initial stages of LTE network deployment, operators typically deploy LTE to cover data hotspot areas, since Voice over LTE (VoLTE) has not yet fully matured. With CSFB technology, subscribers are able to access LTE mobile broadband services while continuing to have CDMA 1x voice services.
