First of all, CACF team wishes a very a happy new year to all of you out there. It has been an especially great year for the ICT sector of Pakistan as the long awaited auction of 3G/4G spectrum took place, big names like Apple and Lenovo entered the local market and Pakistan became the member of ITU after many years. But particularly in last month, Ministry of Information Technology arranged first of its kind “e-Government Workshop-2014” in Pakistan with the slogan “e-Government for smart Governance” on December 3, 2014. Mobilink has entered into an exclusive partnership with Microsoft Pakistan to launch “Lumia” devices. All mobile operators launched Apple iPhone 6 and 6c on contract. Warid launched its 4G services while Zong ended November with 1,452 4G LTE subscribers.
In CIS region ICT sector thrived as well. Kyrgyzstan mobile operator Nur Telecom, which operates under the ‘O!’ banner, has expanded its 3G services in the Naryn province as well as the villages of Jany-Jol and Kochkor. Ucell has started to provide 4G services to its subscribers in Tashkent. Tele2 Kazakhstan has extended its ‘Everything OK’ tariff from the city of Astana, to the regions of Akmola, Zhambyl and Northern Kazakhstan. Mobile operator Afghan Wireless (AWCC) has launched 3.75G+ services in Kabul. The operator fully migrated all its 3G base stations in the city to HSPA+ technology. Takom, working under the Beeline Tajikistan brand, has introduced a package containing the white-label Beeline Smart 3 smartphone. The package costs TJS 500 and also includes 3 GB and 300 SMS per month for four months. Armenian mobile operator VivaCell has started providing its LTE services in the towns of Armavir and Vagarshapat in Armavir County. Rubicon Wireless Communication (RWC), which rendered mobile communication services of CDMA standard in Uzbekistan under trademark Perfectum Mobile, carried out rebranding. The mobile operator will now render services under Perfectum trademark, while its slogan is “Now! Always”.
Qualcomm announced that its Snapdragon 810 processor will add support for LTE Category 9 Carrier Aggregation connectivity. The Snapdragon 810 processor with integrated next generation LTE-A modem has demonstrated download speeds of up to 450 Mbps over three 20MHz LTE carriers, becoming the first Snapdragon processor to support Category 9 Carrier Aggregation. A new report from Juniper Research has found that mobile phone and tablet users will make 195 billion mobile commerce transactions annually by 2019, up from 72 billion this year. India was the fastest growing market in Asia Pacific with a quarter on quarter growth of 27% in Q3 2014 (July September) as per IDC.

Uzbektelecom Cuts Tariffs for Internet Services for ISPs
Uzbektelecom Joint Stock Company cut tariffs for internet services (external channel) for internet service providers up to US$276.27 per 1 Mbps from 4 December 2014. Uzbektelecom recalled that it is cutting tariffs for external channel for the fifth time in 2014. Azerbaijan Handset Imports Fall in First 10 Months of 2014
Azerbaijan imported 77,836 telephone handsets, tablets and other mobile devices in the period January-October 2014, down 16 percent year-on-year, a statement from the Azerbaijan Statistics Committee informed.
