Nepal Telecom invites Huawei to sign GSM contract
Telecom giant Nepal Telecom (NT) has officially invited Chinese Huawei Technologies to ink a 5.2 million mobile line agreement, officials said Monday.
To this effect, NT on December 22 issued a letter of acceptance to Huawei to sign the contract within 15 days to initiate the project soon.
NT aims to distribute 10 million mobile lines under Packages A and B. Huawei has already bagged Package B worth $85 million in June. Package B will distribute 4.8 million mobile lines in Kathmandu and western region.
Under Package A, Huawei has to distribute 5.2 million mobile lines in eastern, central, mid-western and far-western regions.
“NT and Huawei will sign the Package A contract soon,” said NT spokesperson Guna Kesari Pradhan.
NT has already distributed 6.1 million mobile lines and wants to add 10 million more mobile lines by 2015.
