Nar Mobile Enables In-Flight Phone Calls on Azerbaijan Airlines

Nar Mobile has become the first mobile network in Azerbaijan to offer in-flight mobile communication services – on board of the Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) fleet.
Today, ip.access confirmed its partnership with Azerfon to deploy picocells in Baku’s Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Azerbaijan and also onto Azal Airlines’ aircraft operating from the capital’s airport.

The partnership will now allow passengers flying to or from Baku on Azal flights – to be able to make and receive calls, send SMS and surf the internet from their own mobile phones using the on board Nar Mobile network. As announced earlier this year, inflight connectivity provider OnAir is providing Azerfon with the technical solution for this project.

Mr. Timucin Kutar, Azerfon’s CTO highlighted the work and the speed of the partners delivering the project. “Heydar Aliyev airport is one of the busiest international airports in the region and its position makes it a popular locale for transferring passengers,”
