MTN Launches Zambia’s First LTE Network

MTN Zambia has launched Zambia’s first commercial Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in selected locations in Lusaka, Kitwe, Ndola and Livingstone, according to CEO Abdul Ismail.

MTN Zambia has been testing the technology since August 2013, the second stage of the deployment progress, which is already underway, will see coverage extended to several new locations. CEO Ismail advised customers to get their LTE routers and SIM cards, which come with a free pre-loaded internet bundle, from service centres in the stated coverage areas, adding that modems and handsets will be available soon. Clement Asante, MTN Zambia chief marketing officer, commented:

The days of waiting for hours on end for music, pictures or videos to load online are long gone with MTN’s LTE service. It will significantly transform the way you interact with the world.’
