Movistar aiming for 200,000 LTE subscribers in first year

Spanish-backed cellco Movistar Chile intends to end January with 20,000 Long Term Evolution (LTE) subscribers and has sets its sights on hitting 200,000 users by the end of its first year offering the service in November 2014, according the operator’s product and services manager Rodrigo Sajuria. Responding to questions on the indoor coverage of the cellco’s LTE-2600 network, Sajuria claimed that the company had not experienced difficulties and was offering download speeds of up to 40Mbps. The manager added that indoor coverage could be improved greatly if the company is successful in acquiring rights to 700MHz spectrum in the upcoming auction.
