Moldcell Launches First LTE Services in Moldova

Moldova’s Moldcell has launched LTE based 4G services for the very first time in the country, just a few weeks after being granted a license by the regulator.

“Moldcell’s new 4G network stands out through its quality, clearly superior to other wireless technologies.

The launch of 4G services will place Moldova among the most technologically advanced countries in the world, says Tero Kivisaari, President of business areas Eurasia and Mobility Services.

The company is a subsidiary of TeliaSonera.

Moldcell was established in October 1999 and began its commercial operations as the second GSM operator in Moldova on April 28, 2000, Moldcell’s 2G network covers over 97% of Moldova’s territory and population (excluding the Transnistria region).
