Mobitel to Initiate 4.5G Network Roll-Out in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka’s National telecom operator Mobitel to initiate the roll out of the 4.5G network. Mobitel is the first operator to deploy 4.5G network to develop the industry. Furthermore, Mobitel subscribers can now get more bandwidth and high data speeds. Customers can get superior online experience and can enjoy downloading music, videos and games at stable speeds.

The operator will deploys Carrier Aggregation technology using 900 MHz + 1800 MHz + 2100 MHz spectrums. It will enable Mobitel to increases frequencies to get result in more bandwidth that will enhances data speeds.

Furthermore, the signal is stronger than before by upgrading to 4 x 4 MIMO (Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output). Additionally, as 4 x 4 MIMO uses greater signal strength through the use of several antennae. Mobitel has enhanced its QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) from 64 to 256 in this roll out.

4.5G will act as a bridge to move forward to 5G standard. It will also bring significant enhancements to Mobitel’s existing 4G networks by allowing them to handle more data-intensive applications.
