LG Announces G Flex, 6-Inch Curved Smartphone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 800

LG G Flex curved smartphone, initially announced in Korea, has its new design that understands human curves, LG said.

Powered by 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 (MSM 8974) processor, the new curved smartphone features Adreno 330, 450MHz GPU.

The latest 6-inch HD smartphone has 2GB LP DDR3 RAM / 32GB eMMc memory. It comes with 13.0MP rear camera and 2.1MP front camera.

The curved-screen smartphone will assist LG Electronics to take on rival Samsung. The mobile industry expects that there will be more fully flexible products in the pipeline.

LG G Flex comes with 3,500mAh embedded battery. LG will announce the launch date for other markets shortly.

LG G Flex not only employs a curvature arc that is optimized for the average face, to deliver improved voice and sound quality. The curved form increases the sound level by 3dB compared to typical flat smartphones but the curved design also offers a more reassuring grip and fits more comfortably in one’s back pocket. What’s more, in landscape mode, the display offers an IMAX-like experience, with the result being the most comfortable viewing angle for watching videos or playing games.

LG also says the G Flex uses “self-healing” technology that the company compares to Wolverine from X-Men: a special protective film on the back cover is designed to get rid of scratches on the phone within minutes.

LG did not provide a price estimate.
