KT Wins 1.8 Ghz Spectrum For LTE Services

South Korean telecommunications provider KT has won spectrum in the 1.8GHz band for KRW 900 billion for its LTE mobile network service, according to the government. Its local rivals, including SK Telecom and LG Uplus won bandwidth in the 1.8 GHz spectrum for KRW 1.05 trillion and in the 2.6 GHz spectrum for KRW 479 billion respectively.

The minimum bidding price for the 1.8 GHz spectrum band won by KT started at KRW 289 billion and the comparable figure for the spectrum band obtained by SK Telecom started at KRW 674 billion. The number of subscribers to the LTE mobile network in the country amounted to some 23 million in June this year, government data showed.
