Kcell claims 48% market share in Kazakhstan
Kcell, whose purple logo appears on billboards and store fronts in Kazakhstan’s main cities, hopes to attract investors by awarding generous dividends and tapping into growth in smartphone and broadband use in Central Asia’s biggest economy.
Currently «Kcell» JSC* is the cellular operator rendering services of GSM-900/1800 and UMTS/WCDMA 2100 MH standard. The mission of the Company is to make cellular communication available to all citizens of Kazakhstan, generating value to the utmost extent to its subscribers and rendering services of the highest quality.
The company was established in 1998 and since February 1999 it began rendering services of cellular communication under the trade mark Kcell. Activ brand was launched in September the same year. Today the Company’s subscriber data base exceeds 11.6 million.

Kcell has 12.7 million subscribers in Kazakhstan, giving it a market share of nearly 48 per cent. The company generated revenues of $1.19 billion last year and net profit of $446 million, with a margin on earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of 59.2 per cent.
.In revenue terms, the operator estimates its market share at 57 percent.
