Indotel lifts ban on Orange’s 4G service

The telecoms regulator of the Dominican Republic, Indotel, has lifted its suspension of the 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless service offered by cellular operator Orange Dominicana, reports TeleSemana.

However, the watchdog did impose conditions on the service, specifically that the the service should be offered only through USB modems, and that availability of the service should be restricted to the five geographic areas (Los Cacicazgos, Bella Vista, Piantini, Naco and Mirador) in which Orange launched the service.

In addition, Indotel has authorised Orange to use 1720MHz-1730MHz frequencies paired with spectrum in the 1815MHz-1825MHz band.
