Indian ISP to Spend $200 Million on LTE Deployment
India’s Tikona Digital Networks has asked for equipment suppliers for up to US$200 million worth of LTE infrastructure kit for a network deployment in five Indian circles.
A company spokes”Tikona Digital Networks is at the early stage of evaluating the technical proposals of various LTE technology partners,” a company spokesperson said without divulging additional details.
Tikona Digital paid $225.5mn for BWA licenses in five circles in June 2010, and is 71% owned by private equity investors. It had tried to sell a stake to Malaysia’s Axiata earlier this year but the talks foundered on the price.
The company’s licenses are for Gujarat, Rajasthan, UP-East, UP-West and Himachal Pradesh. The company also has an all India Class-A ISP license.
