Hungary’s Telenor Upgrades LTE Network to 150Mbps
Hungary’s Telenor says that it has upgraded its LTE network to support a theoretical peak download speed of 150Mbps.
Thanks to the availability of a 20MHz block in the 1800MHz band for the company after the spectrum contract extension, Telenor said that it can now double its 4G speed offering launched in summer 2012.
The 4G network offering a download speed of up to 150 Mbps will be made available in nearly a quarter of Hungary’s territory by the end of the year with coverage provided in more than 100 settlements including Miskolc, Veszprém and Szeged.
“This is now a significant milestone for our company. Hipernet has enabled mobile internet for all during last two years and has become a synonym for speed. Now, we are fully committed to extend the benefits of superfast Hipernet 4G to the widest number of customers in Hungary in the shortest period of time. After securing extension and additional spectrum, we are accelerating our investments to deliver the widest and best 4G coverage to our valued customers.”
