Huawei Starts Handset Production in Brazil
Huawei has started handset production in a joint-venture factory that the company has set up in Brazil. The factory has seen set up in partnership with Compal Electronics, Huawei said in a statement.
“Our strategy is to reduce the taxes levied and the total cost of production so we can offer handsets at an affordable price for the Brazilian market, with the latest in terms of technology without losing the quality of Huawei products,” Huawei Brasil’s CEO Veni Shone announced.
The factory can assemble around 100,000 units per year but may be expanded depending on demand. The factory is based in São Paulo, near to a Foxconn factory that was set up to produce Apple devices last year.
