The company took 16.3 percent shares locally for all smartphones devices. This estimated value announced by the company during a press briefing in Sandton. The Shenzhen-based mobile and technology group further mentioned that the premium devices market shares also improved to 13.8 percent.

Globally, Huawei has a grip on a 10 percent market share for all smartphones in 2017. It has shipped 153 million devices in 2017 up from 139 million in 2016. At the same place, market share for its premium devices is up to 8.4 percent from less than 4 percent in 2016.
According to Huawei’s general manager for South Africa Zhao Likun, sales for the Mate 10 are up 66 percent from the Mate 9. He further explained that Huawei is also leading the charge of 5G technology.
According to him, they will launch first commercial 5G phone in 2019. The company will look at consolidation in the more affordable market in South Africa.
