GSMA to Indicate Mobile Industry’s Strong Progress of Completing SDGs

In United Nations General Assembly Week, GSMA said that the telecom industry is creating strong development in succeeding the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). According to the GSMA, greatest improvement had been seen in SDGs due to mobile industry. The progress has shown in SDG 3(Good Health and Well-being), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and SDG 13 (Climate). The study recognized three feature tendencies that led to the positive progress. The key features includes heavy investment in increasing infrastructure and improving quality of service. In the result of these tendencies, half of the world’s population is on the way to reach a 4G network by the end of 2016.

Additionally, almost 85 percent had access to 3G networks. Furthermore, advanced solutions to roll out mobile networks in remote areas meant the total number of mobile users extended 4.8 billion at the end of 2016. At the same place, Approximately 3.5 billion people used mobile to access the internet.

Excessive use of mobile devices also led to the number of registered mobile money accounts that reach half a billion in 2016. It is also providing subscribers better access to financial services. Similarly, the number of social media users on mobile reached 2.5 billion. According to GSMA, it is serving to encourage social and political presence and helping the growth of education networks.
