According to data released by the Cellular Operators’ Association of India (COAI), GSM subscribers increased to 671.91 million in October: COAI
decline in subscriber numbers for the last two consecutive months, GSM operators added 0.24 million users in October. Bharti Airtel added 0.49 million users during the month under review and its user base increased to 186.41 million.
It had a market share of 27.74 per cent. Vodafone India added 0.48 million users and its subscriber base stood at 153.15 million. At the end of October 2012, it had a market share of 22.79. For the same period, Idea Cellular added 0.24 million users with its subscriber base increasing to 115.70 million.
It had a market share of 17.22 per cent.
As per COAI’s data, the highest number of subscriber additions were reported in the Uttar Pradesh (East) circle, which saw a total of 57.35 million new subscribers. Maharashtra added the maximum number of GSM subscribers in the month of October. The GSM operators in the state added 0.33 million new subscribers in the period under review.
