Etisalat launches ‘3.75G’ in Herat
Etisalat Afghanistan, a UAE backed cellco has announced the launch of ‘3.75G’ service in Herat as it expands its third-generation footprint across the country.
Etisalat was the first of Afghanistan’s quartet of cellcos to receive a 3G concession, launching W-CDMA/HSDPA services in the capital in March this year, before extending the network to Jalalabad in June.
South African-backed MTN Afghanistan was also awarded the second 3G license in June 2012, but it has not yet launched the service.
Etisalat Afghanistan’s chief marketing officer Yasser Aboul Amayem said: “Etisalat customers in Afghanistan can now enjoy visual communications, high speed voice and data transfer and advanced internet broadband connectivity through services provided by their favorite mobile phone company.”
