Ericsson to Start First Smart Factory in US

Ericsson has decided to build its first fully-automated smart factory in the US. The factory will produce Advanced Antenna System radios to boost network capacity and coverage. According to the company, factory will be operational in early 2020. It will powered by Ericsson’s 5G solutions. Ericsson to Start First Smart Factory in US

Furthermore, it will include rural coverage, as well as 5G radios for urban areas. Location of the factory iss not yet announced. Additionally, it will decided after the discussion with state and local authorities.

Fredrik Jejdling, executive vice president and head of Networks at Ericsson, said:

We continue to focus on working closely with our customers and supporting them in the build-out of 5G globally and in North America. With today’s announcement, we conclude months of preparations and can move into execution also in the US In addition, we are digitalizing our entire global production landscape, including establishing this factory in the US With 5G connectivity we’re accelerating Industry 4.0, enabling automated factories for the future.

Furthermore, the factory has latest 5G products that will enable to start commercial 5G in the region. It iss decided by the company that approximately 100 employees will work initially on highly automated operations.
