Ericsson Expanding, Upgrading Orange 4G/3G/2G Networks
Ericsson, the key technology supplier for France Telecom-Orange, has issued an update on the transformation of existing 2G and 3G networks and the deployment of Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology that it has been carrying out for the French telco since last June.
Ericsson is installing RBS 6000 multi-standard radio base stations throughout Greater Paris, as well as in the south-west and north-east regions of France. The company has been improving existing 2G and 3G networks at more than 15,000 sites in France since 2010, and in June 2012 started the deployment of 4G LTE to further upgrade the operator’s networks. According to Franck Bouetard, Head of Ericsson in France, the installation of the radio base stations for deployment of LTE in the 2.6GHz and 800MHz bands is to ensure the achievement of France Telecom-Orange’s 4G service rollout goals in 2013.
